Charles Karmosky

Charles Karmosky was the long-time sports editor for the Newport News Daily Press. He became sports editor of the Daily Press in 1948 and directed the development of the paper’s outstanding sports section until his retirement in 1983. During that time, the paper was recognized for its strong coverage of local sports, especially on the prep school scene. He was a respected community leader who helped organize the Peninsula Sports Club. Karmosky was a force behind the building of War Memorial Stadium and served on the advisory committee for the Hampton Coliseum.
