When Lefty Driesell arrived at Davidson, the Wildcats’ basketball program had endured 11 consecutive losing seasons. Driesell coached them to eight straight winning years, four national top-10 finishes and two NCAA tournament regional finals.
Before Driesell took over at Maryland, the Terps had finished among the top 20 twice in their history. They did so eight times under Lefty.
James Madison won five consecutive Colonial (now Coastal) Athletic Association regular-season titles on Driesell’s watch. No other CAA school has managed more than three straight.
