Student-Athlete Achievement Awards – Past Honorees

The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame’s Student-Athlete Achievement Awards program began in 2005 as a way to recognize high school student-athletes in Virginia that excel academically and engage in their communities. Each year since, the Hall has honored 16 student-athletes attending high school in Virginia that have met the eligibility requirements. From the 16 finalists, the Selection Committee selects four (4) Student-Athletes of the Year.

What began as a recognition program, has grown into the Hall of Fame’s scholarship initiative. Beginning in 2018, the Hall of Fame began awarding scholarships to its Student-Athletes of the Year, and since 2020 has provided additional scholarships to the remaining 12 finalists. The scholarships awarded have grown from $4,000 in 2018, to more than $14,000 in 2023. Additionally, our nominations have grown to over 140 received in just 2023 alone.

If you know of a current student-athlete that you feel is deserving of this honor, please nominate them for this 2024 Student-Athlete Achievement Awards at the link below. The deadline the nominate is Friday, October 18 at 5 p.m.
