Ali Krieger from Dumfries, VA and Forest Park High School has excelled at every level of soccer, and her career is distinguished by her remarkable achievements and leadership on and off the field. The 2003 Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year, starred for Penn State women’s soccer where she was named BIG10 Freshman of the Year, three-time All BIG10 1st Team, two-time 1st Team All-American, at two different positions, and the 2006 BIG10 and National Defensive Player of the Year. Her success continued on the international and professional levels. With the U.S. Women’s National Team, Krieger made 108 appearances and was named to three World Cup teams (2011, 2015, and 2019, and one Olympic team (2016). With the USWNT she was a member of the 2015 and 2019 World Cup Champion sides and her defensive prowess was instrumental in the National Team’s successes. The 2015 victory was underscored by a defense that set a record for holding opponents scoreless for 540 minutes, showcasing Krieger’s defensive mastery. As a professional she would go on to play for several top-tier clubs in Europe and in the National Women’s Soccer League. Her time in Europe included a stint with FFC Frankfurt, where her contributions were crucial in securing the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Stateside, Krieger played 11 seasons in the NWSL, with Washington, Orlando, and Gotham F.C., culminating with an NWSL championship in her final season (2023) as captain of Gotham F.C. This victory highlighted a career filled with perseverance, skill, and significant off the field contributions to women’s soccer. Ali is currently working with ESPN as a studio analyst and is a proud mom to Sloane and Ocean.
