They all have a moment, a pitch, a story.
They have seen Billy Wagner in a way few have, crouched behind the plate, a front-row seat for one of the greatest relief pitchers in baseball history. They have called many of the same pitches, a 100-mph fastball that made even some of the best hitters look silly, or wicked slider. They marveled at his ability to blow away and baffle hitters as he racked up strikeouts and saves.
And once the job was done, the door slammed shut for the final out, they made the familiar walk to the mound to share a fist bump.
