For the first time, former Cave Spring High School, University of Virginia and New York Giants running back Tiki Barber has made the list of 25 modern-day semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The list was announced Tuesday.
Barber was on the ballot of 173 modern-era player nominees in September. He had also been on the initial ballot the previous 12 years, but he had never before made the cut to semifinalist.
Barber played for the Giants from 1997-2006. The former second-round draft pick owns the Giants records for rushing yards (10,449 yards), carries (2,217) and yards from scrimmage (15,632). He ranks 15th in NFL history in yards from scrimmage. He ranks second in Giants history with 67 total touchdowns. He had 586 catches for 5,183 yards. He made three Pro Bowls and was named a first-team All-Pro.
