Tiki Barber among Pro Football Hall of Fame nominees

Former Cave Spring High School, UVa and New York Giants running back Tiki Barber is once again on the initial ballot for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The list of 167 candidates for the 2025 class was announced Wednesday. The list also includes former Virginia Tech defensive backs Kam Chancellor and DeAngelo Hall, former Ferrum running back Chris Warren, former UVa running back Thomas Jones, former UVa receiver Herman Moore and former UVa linebacker James Farrior.

Two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning, former defensive players of the year Luke Kuechly and Terrell Suggs and postseason kicking hero Adam Vinatieri are among 16 nominees who made the list in their first year of eligibility.

A screening committee will reduce the list of nominees to 50 players next month. Then the full 50-person selection committee will cut the list down to 25 semifinalists later this fall and then 15 finalists for the annual meeting before the Super Bowl that will produce the new class. There will also be three senior candidates, a coach candidate and a contributor candidate.
