Richmond native Ray Hendrick won more than 700 Modified and Late Model Sportsman races in his 35-year career, making him one of the winningest racers of all time.
Everyone knew Hendrick, and his impact as a pioneer for the sport is finally getting recognized.
He was nominated for the NASCAR Hall of Fame‘s Class of 2025 as a pioneer, a distinction given to racers whose careers started more than 60 years ago.
“For him to be on the ballot for the Hall of Fame, I think that just speaks volumes of what Ray Hendrick meant to NASCAR while he was in it,” said his son. Roy Hendrick, a short-track racing star himself.
“This is great for our family. We’re just tickled to death just to get nominated.”
