Former ODU & WNBA great Penicheiro to be inducted to the 2025 FIBA Hall of Fame

MIES, Switzerland — In an extraordinary moment of recognition, Ticha Penicheiro, the legendary Portuguese basketball guard and former Old Dominion University standout, has been named one of the nine inductees into the prestigious FIBA Hall of Fame Class of 2025. This honor places her alongside some of the greatest players and coaches in basketball history, solidifying her legacy as one of the sport’s most influential figures.

Penicheiro’s induction is a tribute to her exceptional career, which spanned multiple continents and earned her accolades few have matched. As a player, her accomplishments are extraordinary: a EuroLeague Women’s champion (2007), EuroCup Women’s winner (2006), and WNBA champion (2005), she is among the rare athletes to win seven national titles across seven different countries. Known for her leadership, court vision, and exceptional basketball IQ, Penicheiro is widely regarded as one of the best point guards to ever play the game.
