Astros’ Wagner on HoF ballot for final time

The Baseball Writers’ Association of America is considering 14 new and 14 returning candidates for the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025

Former Astros All-Star Billy Wagner is among the 14 returning candidates and is making his 10th and final appearance on the National Baseball Hall of Fame ballot.

Wagner has career numbers superior, in several key categories, to any current Hall of Fame reliever, except for Mariano Rivera.

Last year, Wagner fell just five votes shy of being elected, garnering 73.8% of the vote.

This result continued a steady, upward trend for Wagner, that saw him go from 16.7% of the vote in 2019 to 33.2% in 2020, to 46.4% in 2021, to 51% in 2022 and to 68.1% in 2023.
