From gridiron glory to holiday glow: Detroit Lions star Herman Moore named Silver Bells Grand Marshall

LANSING, Mich. – Detroit Lions legend Herman Moore will serve as grand marshal for the Electric Light Parade at the 41st annual Silver Bells in the City celebration.

The celebration will take place in downtown Lansing on Friday, Nov. 21.

Moore, a dynamic wide receiver, was selected by the Lions with the 10th overall pick in the 1991 NFL draft after a standout career at the University of Virginia.

As a Virginia Cavaliers standout, Moore set school records for receiving yards (2,504) and touchdowns (27), and an Atlantic Coast Conference record for receiving yards in a season (1,190 in 1990).

He earned two All-American honors during his college career.

After joining Detroit, Moore teamed with running back Barry Sanders to create a potent offense.

In his rookie season, Moore helped the Lions reach the playoffs for the first time since 1983.

Moore played a key role in the team’s first playoff win since 1957, catching six passes for 87 yards and a touchdown in a 38-6 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in 1991.
