When Monica Wright Rogers was 11 years old, she had an inkling that coaching was her future.
Her father, Garry, a coach, brought her and a friend to an overnight basketball camp. In a two-on-two tournament, the pair handily defeated their opponents. The scores ended up so lopsided that they stopped playing and started coaching the other players in her age group.
She only began playing two years before, and her layups used to miss so badly that they would bounce off the backboard to half-court. But she learned quickly.
