RT-D’s Teel elected Virginia sportswriter of the year for record 15th time

or a record 15th time, Times-Dispatch columnist David Teel has been elected Virginia sportswriter of the year by the National Sports Media Association.

The NSMA on Tuesday announced 59 first-time winners around the country for sportscaster or sportswriter of the year.

Teel headlines a group of five who have won 12 or more state awards, joining Kevin Tresolini of The News Journal (Delaware, 14th time), Allen Lessels of UNH Insider (New Hampshire, 13th), Russ Langer of the Las Vegas Aviators and UNLV (Nevada, 12th) and Mike Keith of the Tennessee Titans (Tennessee, 12th).
