Curtis Strange, Debbie Antonelli give back at fundraiser for N.C. Sports Hall of Fame

PINEHURST – At this stage in his life Curtis Strange no longer has the stare that made opponents cough up leads on the PGA Tour for most of the decade of the 80’s.

Strange, 68, loves to talk about the stare, but doesn’t really know where it came from. He doesn’t mind that the stare or glare is sort of a mystery but it was that intensity that made him one of the most consistent golfers of his era.

“I wasn’t a smile kind of guy out there,” Strange said last week as he sat in the backyard of Donald Ross’ old house just off the third green at Pinehurst No. 2.
